Indian food is loud — in the best way. Smoke from the tandoor, chilli heat, coconut richness, deep Kashmiri spice. Wine handles some of it brilliantly, but cocktails were built for this job: a good bartender can dial sweetness, acidity and strength to meet a dish exactly where it is. Here’s how we think about pairing at the Yogi’s bar.

The Three Rules of Cocktail Pairing
- Match intensity, not flavour. A delicate drink disappears next to a Kashmiri Rogan Josh; a bold smoked Old Fashioned bulldozes a plate of momos. Pair bold with bold, subtle with subtle.
- Use sweetness against heat. Sugar and fruit tame chilli — which is why tropical, fruit-led drinks love spicy food.
- Acid resets the palate. Citrus-forward drinks act like a squeeze of lime over the whole meal, cutting through rich, creamy or fried dishes.
Our Favourite Pairings, Course by Course
Starters: Bright Drinks for Crisp Bites
Salt & Pepper Prawns + Raspberry Tom Collins. Lightly battered prawns with garlic, chilli and black pepper want a fresh, fizzy, citrusy drink that won’t weigh them down.
Punjabi Samosa or Onion & Spinach Bhajia + Jamaican Mule. Ginger beer and rum against crisp, spiced street-food classics — heat meets heat, beautifully.
Chicken 65 + Pineapple Crush. Chennai-style chilli chicken and a coconut-rum pineapple cooler is Southeast-meets-South-India in the best way.
Momo (Veg or Chicken) + Fresh Watermelon Martini. Delicate steamed dumplings, delicate summer martini.
Tandoor & Grills: Smoke Meets Smoke
Lamb Chops + Whiskey Old Fashioned. Our Old Fashioned is smoked to order — put it next to tandoori lamb chops with mint, chilli and garlic and you have the single best pairing on the menu. If you try one combination from this guide, make it this.
Malai Chicken Tikka + Amaretto Whiskey Sour. Creamy, cardamom-marinated chicken against sweet-sour Disaronno and bourbon — the pairing our bartenders recommend most.
Mix Grill Sharing Platter for 2 + Long Island Spice Tea. A sharing platter calls for a serious drink. Five spirits with island spice keep up with kebabs, tikka and lamb chops without flinching.
Mains: The Main Event
Yogi’s Old Delhi Style Butter Chicken + Rose Lychee Martini. Silky, fenugreek-dusted butter chicken with floral rose and lychee is a quietly perfect match.
Kashmiri Lamb Rogan Josh + Very Berry Mojito. Deep, aromatic Kashmiri spice needs fruit and fresh mint to play against — this is the one guests come back to.
Goan Curry Prawns or Sea Food Moilee + Havana Colada. Coconut-based curries and a pineapple-coconut colada are natural partners — the Konkan coast in a glass and a bowl.
Chicken Jalfrezi + Mango Tango. When the chilli builds, ripe mango and raspberry cool everything down (and there’s no alcohol in it, so it works for everyone at the table).
Dessert: Finish Strong
Dark Chocolate Brownie + Chocolate Espresso Martini. Double chocolate plus freshly brewed espresso — the definitive after-dinner pairing.
Gulab Jamun with Vanilla Ice Cream + Rose Lychee Martini. Rose-syrup-soaked gulab jamun alongside French rose liqueur: the dessert pairing we’re proudest of.
Feeling brave? End the night with a Shrunken Zombie Head — our secret tiki recipe with pineapple, orange, passion fruit, plus added fire.
Zero-Proof Pairings That Actually Pair
Our mocktail list is built with the same logic, not as an afterthought:
- Mango Tango — the definitive anti-chilli drink. Order it with anything spicy.
- Fresh Raspberry Lemonade — sharp and refreshing with fried starters and the tandoor grill.
- Virgin Havana Colada — creamy coconut alongside Goan curry and Sea Food Moilee.
- Passion Fizz — all the fun of a Pornstar Martini, less the fire; made for toasts.

Ask about pairings when you book a table — our bar team will match a drink to each course. It’s also a popular option for private events, where a welcome cocktail and paired courses turn dinner into an occasion.
